    Our story

Ukrainian Homemade Food began with something simple:
a family kitchen and a deep love for home.

In 2022, after the war began in Ukraine, our family relocated to the United States. We left behind our cities — Kharkiv and Poltava — but we brought with us what mattered most: our traditions, our recipes, and the belief that food has the power to heal, connect, and preserve culture.

In Ukraine, food is never just food.
It is memory. It is care. It is community.

    How It All Started

When we arrived in Michigan, we started small — cooking the way we always had. Handmade pierogi (varenyky), honey cake layered with natural sour cream frosting, traditional pastries made from scratch.

    No shortcuts.
    No artificial ingredients.
    No compromise on quality.

We began selling at local farmers markets in the Kalamazoo area. At first, people were curious. Then they came back — bringing friends, family, and neighbors. Some discovered Ukrainian cuisine for the first time. Others said our food reminded them of their childhood or their travels in Eastern Europe.

That’s how Ukrainian Homemade Food began to grow — one conversation and one returning customer at a time.

Rooted in Tradition, Built for the Future

Our recipes are inspired by generations of home cooks — mothers and grandmothers who believed that the best meals are made slowly and shared generously.

    Today, our menu includes:

    • Handmade pierogi with traditional fillings
    • Honey cake (Medovik) made with real honey
    • Savory and sweet pastries
    • Seasonal specialties inspired by Ukrainian heritage

Everything is crafted in small batches, with care and intention.

    More Than a Business

    We are not a factory.
We are a family-run food company built on resilience and purpose.

As immigrants rebuilding our lives, food became our way of contributing to the community that welcomed us. Through farmers markets, local events, and catering, we share a taste of Ukrainian culture while building new connections in Michigan.

Our long-term vision goes beyond cooking. We believe in sustainability, responsible sourcing, and building our own natural ingredient base — including honey from our apiary — as part of creating a vertically integrated, ethical food model.

    A Taste of Culture

When someone tries our pierogi or honey cake, they’re not just tasting a dish — they’re experiencing a story.

    A story of heritage.
    A story of resilience.
    A story of family.

Ukrainian Homemade Food is our way of keeping tradition alive — and sharing it with our new home.
